International Office for Water aims at bringing
together public and private institutions involved
in the management and protection of water resources.
It is involved in international cooperation programs
in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa to
help develop local organizational structures
and build up exchange and partnership networks,
with the help of the technical plant of its Industrial
Center in La Souterraine.
Research conducted at the Laboratory for Genetic
Engineering – Water and Waste Treatment
in Limoges involves different fields of activity:
- Eliminating micropollutants on different
absorbing materials or ion exchange systems,
assessing the quality of transfers between
water and sediments or soils,
- Natural water filtration,
- Coagulation and flocculation processes.
Consequently, the Environment pole has built
up numerous relations with national and international
firms. Several local small or mid-size firms have
sprung up from the University’s scientific
skills: Callisto, which specializes in industrial
environment; Actread
Environnement which has perfected a drinking
water treatment system allowing to identify the
sizing and automation characteristics of treatment
networks.
