Electromagnetism, Microwaves, and Photon Engineering. |

| This pole involves close collaboration
between research and advanced industries: Limoges hosts the research activities of
IRCOM (Research Institute in Microwave and Optical Communications) as well as the Legrand group,
worldwide leader in low-voltage electrical appliances.
This pole of competence is further strengthened by the specialization in Electronics and Communications
offered by ENSIL,
(the Limoges National Graduate School of Engineering), and by CRITT Electronics Optics,
which meets industrial demand by developing an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing center.
The electricity and electronics sectors represent
a leading network employing nearly 7000 people
in Limousin. On the ESTER site, SITEL (Legrand’s
Industrial Site for Electronic Technologies)
elaborates electronic products, while IRCOM has
become internationally famous in high-frequency
electronics, electromagnetism, and photonics.

| GERAC
(Regional Testing Center in Electronics and Electromagnetism,
formerly (CR3E)
offers many services: consulting, aid in design
and product adaptation, testing in conforming
to immunity and emission standards in radiation
disturbance. CREAPE
(Research Center in Electromagnetism for Antennae
with Electronic Positioning) brings together
the IRCOM electromagnetism research team and
an industrial team specialized in hyperfrequency
electronics.
The ENSIL specialization in Electronics and Communications
further strengthens this pole by offering two
career orientations: Microelectronics and Communications,
which aims at bringing together skills from telecommunications
as well as from microelectronic and optoelectronic
devices; Instrumentation, Industrial Measuring
and Testing, which answers a strong industrial
demand.
